Slowly, I hope to introduce you to the principles of surfboard design. I have been making surfboards since 1978 and I have shaped a very wide array of surfcraft. Yet today, I am more amazed than ever by the complexity of surfboard design. Recent advancements in materials and methods, like vacuum bagging, have broadened the horizons of what we can create. I am in awe of the possibilities. We have much to talk about!

The act of Surfing is ancient. It is arguably the oldest continually practiced, sporting art form in the world, and it is growing worldwide at a rapid rate. I believe there are lots of opportunities for prospective shapers (young or older) to take up making surfboards. The best place to start is by making your own surfboards and who knows? You may just end up with the best job in the world.
